Hey I did a really cool thing with wires and coding and Stuff

So in CSAI, we started a project building a game and a controller using software called Make Code Arcade. This required us to code a game using block coding. After that, we had to set up a controller, like in an arcade. Pretty rad right. It had wiring and buttons and everything! So this was my first time working with wiring and I really enjoyed it. I always thought that wiring and mechanics we’re cool so it was so fun to work with them hands on. The first step was to wire up these cool arcade buttons we got. We added a switch to the button in order for it to make the fun clicky sound and to be able to attach all the wiring to it. We had to strip the end of the wires and connect them to other wires and put those in these blue terminals that would connect to the buttons. Sounds pretty confusing. It kinda was but it was still super fun. After that, we made a big mega wire that connected to all the buttons called the ground wire. I don’t really know what it does but it was cool. We had to cute holes in a shoe box in order to fit the buttons and stuff in it. Another fun thing was the Raspberry pie. It’s sort of a mini computer. You can plug wires, cables, and hook up a monitor. We had to hook up the wires we connected to the buttons and put them in little pegs on the raspberry pie. There was a slide on the monitor once you plugged everything in showing where to put the wires in the raspberry pie, but I messed up my wiring so much that I accidentally memorized the entire layout of where the wires go. I didn’t know how to decorate the box other than with spray paint and I was too lazy to actually paint n it so I came up with what I thought was a decently creative solution. I found a bunch on rainbow paperclips on the ground and bent them into the letter and secured them to the box with more paperclips and hot glue. I’m pretty proud of myself for thinking of that. It was really cool to see my game on a screen and to see how everyone else decorated their boxes and did their games. I really enjoyed this project and would love to do things similar to it in the future

More games! Yay!

I made another game! This one was more complicated than my other game. This one has multiple levels along with a maze format. I spent about 2 weeks on this and learned a lot of things. This helped me with my problem solving and adapting when obstacles come along that I’m not sure how to solve yet.  It was hard at first cause I was still figuring things out, but eventually it was a lot of fun. It follows the book Internment by Samira Ahmed. It’s a book about if Internment camps were put up in modern day America for Muslims. The main character Layla is trying to find a way to free the internment camp and go back to her old life. I hope you enjoy!

Aaaayyyyy I made a video game

At my CSAI class at Quest Academy, we learned how to use block code in Microsoft MakeCode Arcade. This wasn’t my first time using block coding, but I learned way more from this then I did in my previous experiences. In my game, I learned to create and enemy and create a scoring system. The goal of the game is to collect as many pizza slices before you get caught by the shark. The name is Sharky Sharky Boom Man, as a homage to Avatar: The Last Airbender. I think my high-score is 12 but I haven’t played it that much. I’m really proud of it. Enjoy!

Well hello

Hello there. If you responded in your head or out loud with “general kenobi” than you are an awesome person. Anyway, my name is Elena. I’m a new student here at quest. In case you couldn’t tell, I like Star Wars. Ahsoka Tano is superior and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. That is not all i enjoy however. I’m also very fond of animated kids TV shows such as Voltron, Avatar the Last Airbender, She-ra, The Dragon Prince, Tangled the Series, etc. Please talk to me if you watch any of these, I would love to hear your opinion and talk about these shows. I also love to read. My favorite series is probably the Lunar Chronicles or Percy Jackson. If you like or don’t like to read, I still recommend these books. I also very much enjoy music. I mainly listen to musicals. Some of my favorites are Heathers, Ultimate Storytime, and Dear Evan Hansen. Yes I have listened to Hamilton. I also listen to mxmtoon, Cavetown, and AJR. All amazing artists. I’m trying to learn how to draw, and that’s going pretty ok.

Lets talk about normal stuff now, shall we. I’m a new student at Quest Academy. My previous school was Sundling Junior High. I have lots of good friends there and I was sad to leave, but I thought Quest Academy would be better for my education. I have played volleyball since 3rd grade. Right now, I play for a club called Pro V. My birthday is May 7, 2007. My Hogwarts house is Hufflepuff. I am a daughter of Apollo or Iris. My favorite season is Fall and Spring. I love when it rains and when the air smells like fall. My favorite scent is pumpkins and my favorite drink is milk. I don’t like tea or coffee. I love cuddling up in puffy blankets when its dark outside.

These are the characters from Percy Jackson. Please read this series
The best character in Avatar. I’m willing to fight people about this
